About ALAK

We wanted to make the kind of spaces we wanted to be in.

Why ALAK

In Farsi, our mother tongue, ALAK is a sieve. A sifter. What our moms used in the kitchen to sift through flour and what generations before held in hand for the purpose of separating impurities from what was important to them.

We named our collective ALAK because in one word it summarizes our mission. For us, it is a way to think about sifting through noise and returning to what matters.
